A few sketches
So in addition to the xy plotter project I've been doing some sketches involving simple machines - nothing I plan to build yet - just wanting to get a feel for creating mechanical motion and build a vocabulary. Using foam core and hot glue here to do these quick sketches- works great! Hopefully I've have time before the end of the semester to make a few pieces.
Thinking these will sit on a 12" x 12" base, raised off the floor to chest height by spindly legs of 3/8" round stock that has been forged/shaped to curve. Probably the material will be mild steel that I will sandblast and then rust. These would not be interactive - but would be in continuous motion, driven very slowly by timing motors. I'd like to find a way to hide the motor or place it on the floor so that it's not a visual element.
Lots of different connections or references for these but one of them is the machines that are described as being in Dumbledore's office the the Harry Potter books.
